LADDIE 9-year-old neutered male (Updated 10 Nov)
(He's now able to walk about .25 mile before becoming too tired.  He seems really happy with his life the way that it is. He loves his short walks. He enjoys getting frisky and sometimes plays with Milo and Zoe (foster's home's permanent Goldens). At this point, he has settled in emotionally and physically and we have opted that since he seems quite content, not to stress him by moving forward with a prosthesis.  We are very happy that he is happy and enjoying life!)  Our very special, sweet Laddie is looking for a forever family worthy of his gentle, loving devotion. It's hard to imagine how anyone could leave him! He is a loving, laid back boy with gentle eyes who was born with an abnormal front leg that never completely formed. Laddie was turned in by his owner because they could no longer care for him. He lived as an outside dog for 9 years until coming to his foster home. Unfortunately, Laddie is heartworm positive and has already begun his treatment. Keeping him calm for the next couple of months as he undergoes the rest of his treatments won't be difficult because of his mellow, laid back personality. You might expect a dog who has never experienced being an inside pet to have behavior issues while adjusting to his new lifestyle. Quite to the contrary! Laddie is the perfect gentleman. He is completely housebroken and has no behavior issues. Laddie was very depressed for the first couple of weeks with his foster family. He has only just begun to show signs of feeling happy and comfortable. When he's feeling especially happy, he likes to showcase his hidden talent of "singing" - or howling. He enjoys it when you sing to him because he loves to chime right in! Laddie's disability does slow him down a bit. He gets around by hopping using his 3 good legs, but it's very exhausting for him. Sadly, Laddie has never experienced a nice long leash walk because hopping for extended periods of time is just too exhausting. He is unstable on non-carpeted floors, and stairs are almost impossible. He can manage one or two steps, but anything more than that is very scary and difficult for him. A perfect forever home for our special Laddie would be a one-level home with mostly carpet throughout. His ideal forever family would be slower paced and laid back -- just like Laddie! He is awesome with other dogs, cats and children of all ages.

CARAMEL ("Mel") 9-10 year old neutered male (Updated 30 Oct)
Caramel "Mel" is a 9-10yr old golden mix. Caramel is very loving and learns quickly from his foster brother. He is fully housebroken and has can be left at home all day uncrated. He has been left in the house up to 9 hours with no accidents. He reliably comes when called and knows the commands Sit and Come. He is 54lbs and not expected to get any heavier. He is a very sweet dog with lots of love to give. He will follow you from room to room and loves to sit in your lap. Mel has learned to walk on a leash without pulling and is no longer scared of the car. Caramel will need a fenced in yard with owners who will not leave him outside on his own for very long as he loves to be with you. He has encountered children and loves the attention they give but would do best with children that understand he is easily startled. Mel is a pretty quiet guy but will bark to let you know it is time for breakfast/dinner or if he needs to go outside.  Mel seems to have no interest in cats when he has meet them at the vet or in a pet store. Mel is wonderful boy in search of a loving home. He has done very well in foster care and with a healthy diet, his coat is now getting softer!

NAYA  10-year-old spayed female

Naya is 10 year old spayed female.  She's a very gracious lady – housebroken with great leash manners, and does well with small children and other dogs. She is a beautiful red colored female.  A true retriever at heart, she loves balls and is even happier playing in the water.  She loves boating and diving off a pier! What a wonderful companion!  Naya does like to chase cats.  Sadly, she is deathly afraid of thunder storms and would enjoy a family that could be home with her if a storm rolls through to comfort her.  If you're looking for a laid back golden girl who is up for weekend adventure, then Naya is the girl for you!

PebblesBam BamPEBBLES & BAM BAM

12-year-old neutered male and 12 year-old spayed female (Updated Photos)

Pebbles and Bam Bam are 12 years old and are inseparable.  They have been together since they were pups.  Fot that reason, we are hoping to find a very special home that can accommodate them both.  They do not act their age as they are quite spry and happy.  They get along easily with other dogs and even enjoy wrestling with their foster siblings.  Pebbles is heartworm positive but is active and has a good quality of life.  We have decided to manage this by giving her Revolution rather than putting her through heartworm treatment at her age and she is doing well.  Bam Bam is heartworm negative. Neither barks unnecessarily but they do whine for attention. They were grossly overweight but are nearing a healthy weight now and their coats are improving. What a beautiful pair.

SAMANTHA 7-year-old spayed female
Samantha is a great golden with excellent house manners. She responds extremely well to commands of sit, stay, lay and shake. Her favorite past time is playing with toys and especially tennis balls. She also loves to play fetch at the park and will actually retrieve the ball and return it to you. She walks well on a leash and is always ready to go for a walk or car ride. Samantha does not counter surf, beg at the table or get into anything she's not supposed to. She is house broken, can be left alone in the house during the day and does not get on the furniture unless invited. She will go in a crate if you need her to but really does not need to be crated. She does wonderfully with other dogs of any breed or size and does not have any dominant or aggressive traits at all. Samantha is currently residing with her foster golden brother and 15 lb terrier mix foster sister and would do well with other dogs or as an only dog. She has not been tested with cats but with her laid back personality would probably do just fine. She also does well with children and loves to be around people as much as possible. Samantha is known to show a little sadness when apart from humans by whimpering or barking when first left alone but will quiet down after a few minutes and patiently await your return. Samantha was abandoned by her previous owner and recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism. Since she was not diagnosed early, she has experienced some hair loss on her tail, rear hind quarters and belly. Samantha is currently being treated with a lost cost pill form thyroid medication twice a day but that is no problem because she simply takes it in her food. She has responded well to treatment, is symptom free and her hair is beginning to regrow. Samantha is a very sweet girl with a gentle personality who will follow you where ever you go and be as energetic or laid back you as you want to be. All she needs is lots of love, attention and hugs (yes, she really loves to be hugged). Samantha is a great companion and would be a wonderful addition to any forever home.

SAMPSON 7-year-old neutered male
Sampson is a handsome male who was abandoned by his previous owners. He is a great family dog and does well with young children as well as his foster golden sister. He has been left up to 8 1/2 hours with no problems. He walks nicely on a leash, but we need to work on socializing him more with new dog friends as he's gotten a little excited around them. Although he hasn't been swimming yet, he is curious about our swimming pool and could be a potential swimmer. Sampson does have some itching and hair loss on his chest area due to a combination of hypothyroidism and suspected allergies, both of which are being treated. Most of all, Sampson loves being near his foster family. He follows his foster mom around wherever she goes and will give a nudge or a bark when he wants petting or more attention. Sampson would be a great dog for a family looking for a constant friend and companion who has the time to give him the love and attention that he craves.

SEQUOIA 7-year-old spayed female
Sequoia is very special girl in need of a very special owner!  She turned in after being left in an empty house where someone came by to feed her about once a week. She was bone thin and may have recently had puppies, in spite of all this she is the most gentle, loving dog you'll ever meet.  She is very easy going and doesn't have high energy.  When we first got her she was having cluster seizures 2-3 times a week.  We are very happy to report that Sequoia has now been seizure free for over 3 months!  Sequoia has vision problems, but can acclimate to new surroundings.  She gets along with other dogs and cats.  The other dog/s in the home would need to be tolerant in the beginning stages because Sequoia may walk right into them or step on them!  Kids don't faze her and she loves to be hugged and belly rubbed by her foster family's kids.   She has a good appetite, is housebroken and can be left alone for long periods of time.  She loves to ride in a car and take long naps.  She is very affectionate with her trusted family members.  Sequoia is a beautiful light colored girl with eyes that will melt your heart.  She is very special, wonderful girl and we hope to find an equally special forever home for her!

TALLY  14-year-old spayed female
Tally is a "doggy" senior citizen with a lot of pep. She endlessly enjoys going for walks and car rides. Take out a leash and she is ready! She'll outlast YOU!  Don't open a car door unless you are ready to take Tally for a ride!! She'll jump right in! Amazingly, she is very, very active for a "doggy" senior citizen. She'll greet you bouncing and twisting after being left alone any length of time.  Incredibly, she leaps up and down steps – even skipping steps!! Tally loves older children. She fell in love with a 9 year old neighbor after she took Tally for a walk. Didn't want her to go home!  She would enjoy middle aged or older children who know to be gentle with her.  She'll affectionately lay her head on your lap for you to love her. She can even be coaxed to jump up in your lap for a hug. Tally will also gently lick you to show her appreciation. She minds very well. She does not get on furniture unless invited, goes to the door to go out, barks quietly to come back in. She stays at home while her foster family works without difficulty and is housebroken.  She shakes both paws for a treat and loves ice cream!!! Tally is the dog for you if you want a loving, sweet, active older companion.  Tally was a little slow to warm up to her Golden foster sister, as she wants all the attention and to be in charge!  However, with a little time they now do fine together.  She does not get along with cats and tries to chase them.

TROUBLE 5-year-old neutered male

ADOPTION PENDING

ZOE 8-year-old spayed female
Zoe is a very sweet, loving golden who is eager to please and loves to be petted and hugged. She has a lot of energy and loves to play ball and tug of war and to chase squirrels. She loves to go on walks and seems to know the meaning of "heel" but does not do it very well, so we are working on that. Zoe knows how to sit, stay, shake and lie down. She is housebroken and has not had any accidents. Zoe will stay off of furniture while her foster mom is home but will sneak up on it when she leaves. She has the run of the house and gets along with the 3 cats and cocker spaniel in her foster home and loves humans of all ages. Zoe has a rare condition, hypo-parathyroid disease, for which she is on medication and will require calcium supplements for the rest of her life. She is asymptomatic and the calcium level in her body has increased with appropriate medical care.  Zoe needs a family that is committed to making sure this treatable problem is cared for.  She deserves it- and will bring much joy in return!
